Artificial Intelligence Policy

IJOMEST recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models and AI-assisted writing software, are increasingly used in academic research and writing. This policy provides clear guidelines on the acceptable use of such tools in manuscripts submitted to IJOMEST.

Permitted Use

Authors are permitted to use AI tools to assist with specific aspects of manuscript preparation, such as language editing, grammar checking, paraphrasing, and improving the clarity of the text. The use of AI tools for data visualization support or literature organization is also acceptable, provided that the authors verify the accuracy of all outputs generated by such tools.

Disclosure Requirement

Any use of AI tools in the preparation of a manuscript must be disclosed by the authors. A brief statement describing how and for what purpose the AI tool was used should be included in the manuscript, either in the Methods section or in the Acknowledgements section. The name of the AI tool used should be clearly stated.

Example of disclosure statement:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [Name of AI Tool] to assist with language editing and grammar checking. The authors have reviewed and take full responsibility for the content of the manuscript."

Responsibilities of Authors

The use of AI tools does not reduce the authors' responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the submitted work. Authors must carefully verify all content generated or modified with the assistance of AI tools before submission. Any errors, inaccuracies, or ethical violations resulting from the use of AI tools remain the sole responsibility of the authors.

Authorship

AI tools cannot be listed as authors of a manuscript. Authorship requires accountability for the work, which AI tools are not capable of assuming. Any attempt to attribute authorship to an AI tool will result in the rejection of the manuscript.

Prohibited Use

The use of AI tools to generate the core scientific content of a manuscript, including research findings, data analysis, conclusions, or discussion, is not permitted. Authors must ensure that the intellectual substance of their work reflects their own original research and analysis. Submitting AI-generated content as original work without proper disclosure constitutes a violation of the journal's publication ethics policy.
